No Limits Supported Employment Success Stories part. 2

Samuel aged 21 years old

Samuel has taken part in an extended work experience programme here at No Limits for the last two years and in that time has gained valuable transferrable skills including barista training, and taken on additional roles and responsibilities including being an informal designated ‘Health and Safety Monitor’ making sure our first aid kit is fully stocked and that signage for important things such as our fire doors and cleaning products etc. are up-to-date.

In recent months it had been evident that Samuel was ready to pursue further work experience opportunities and was very keen to gain employment. Sarah who is our Supported Employment Lead here at No Limits liaised with Dainton Park Gold Club in Ipplepen close to Newton Abbot and through employer engagement was able to secure an 8-week supported employment outreach placement for Samuel along with a No Limits 1-2-1 job coach who was on hand to support Samuel through various training roles. In his time there he learnt an array of skills and he really showed himself to be open to new challenges and adaptable to changing work environments, whether it be outside doing gardening etc. or inside within the hospitality department serving customers and preparing food and drinks.

After the 8 weeks, Samuel has been offered paid employment for 2 days a week.
Alongside this, No Limits will continue to provide business to business support in all disability confidence matters.

Without our new No Limits Supported Employment Programme and our passion for promoting community cohesion, these job opportunities would not have happened. Contacting other businesses and showcasing the benefits of a diverse workforce has been vital in this success, and also with the aim of supporting businesses towards being disability confident employers.
